A Powder Room with a Secret

This powder room in Belmar, NJ is proof that small spaces can be both beautiful and incredibly hardworking. Designed for a beach house with a pool, this half bath doubles as a laundry room with a washer and dryer hidden behind louvered doors, making it easy for guests to keep beach towels and pool gear in rotation.

The show-stopping black and white patterned floor tile in sets the tone, bringing personality and visual interest without overwhelming the compact footprint. Limewash paint on the walls adds soft texture and depth, creating a subtle backdrop that feels organic and effortless. A rope-wrapped round mirror and warm wood vanity add coastal texture while keeping the space feeling open and uncluttered.

The result is a powder room that feels somewhat unexpected for a beach house. It’s both elevated and refined in its design, while quietly delivering the hardworking, hidden utility the home actually needs.
